Tex Cycle Launches Malaysia’s First Centralised Biogas Plant In Collaboration with Green Lagoon Technology
Tex Cycle Technology (M) Berhad (“Tex Cycle” or the “Group”), an established waste management and recycling solutions provider, in partnership with Green Lagoon Technology Sdn Bhd, is pleased to announce the commencement of operations at the GLT BP Power Sdn Bhd biogas power plant [Link]. This innovative facility in Bukit Pasir, Johor, signifies a transformative step in sustainable energy solutions for Malaysia, utilising advanced technology to convert palm oil mill effluent into clean energy.

This new facility converts palm oil mill effluent into biogas, significantly reducing environmental waste and providing a sustainable energy source. The centralised nature of the plant allows for more efficient management and greater scalability, setting the stage for future expansions and innovations in renewable energy.
The plant not only contributes to reducing carbon emissions but also supports the local economy by creating jobs and enhancing energy security. Mr. Raymond Cheah, Chief Operating Officer of GLT BP Power Sdn Bhd stated, “We are proud to launch Malaysia’s first centralised 3.5-megawatt biogas plant, which since April has already contributed over 1.6 million kilowatt-hours to the national grid. This initiative not only aligns with Malaysia’s energy transition goals but also sets a precedent for future organic waste transformation, ensuring a sustainable and greener future for our nation.”
Tex Cycle’s initiative aligns with the Malaysian Government’s focus on waste management compliance and renewable energy promotion, supporting national and global sustainability targets.
